During the night I produced yet one more Jace Brainstorm.

Island Textless

Custom Playmat - Susumu Kuroko

For several weeks I wanted to come up with a custom playmat. I wanted to draw/paint something I'd like but I just couldn't come up with an illustration I could use and I'm not good that good at drawing myself...But well something original would work as well but I couldn't come up with that either. So I was deciding between Kratos in a dashed style, Liliana of the Veil or Snuff Out Liliana. There were other possibilities as well. For few days I wanted to do a Legend of the Five Rings or Romance of the Nine Empires playmat but again I couldn't decide what I would like on the mat. I really like Shadow's Talon illustration for example but it's not something I would want on my mat. I'd rather have there some personality I like to look at (like Kachiko for example) or like (Agasha Kokiden).

I started browsing Legend of the Five Rings personalities (images) randomly and Susumu Kuroko showed up.

This card is really out of place...it reminds me of Planar Chaos in Magic: The Gathering but well with sets named Coils of Madness and Gate To Chaos..what to expect? Anyway I really like this personality and I also like the art. So I tried drawing that myself...Well as expected it did not end up looking as beautiful as the original art but in general it does not look bad^_^. Thanks David Horne for painting Kuroko. I really like the art.

Dissipate ...

Yesterday was a really crazy day. I was upset the whole day and so I decided to start working on some alters. I decided to start with something simply and cheap so I wouldn't destroy an expensive card or something...so I took Dissipate and started painting on it. My paints were not mixed enough (even though I tried shaking the bottles for quite some time) so the paint started doing wierd things on my card. Whatever I decided to go on even though I would just throw the card away in the end. When I was finished and it wasn't that bad as I expected the card managed to fall in my paints. Ok, I'm to blame as my left hand accidentally hit the card and sent it flying over to the paints...but well...argh..No more to say I guess. Time to start over I guess.

Hm... I don't know...I have impression that I'm getting worse and worse in everything I do. Anyway this card was in a really bad state. Now it looks far better. But that does not help me feel better much.

Academy Ruins

On Thursday many things happened. First I met with a beginning Legend of the Five Rings player. I played few games with him and tried to build some Kensai deck from the cards he had. After that Legacy tournament started. I did not participate that time because I was exhausted and still feeling pretty sick. I sat down at one of the tables where Legacy was not played and watched a multiplayer game of EDH. Some time later I realized that one of the players tapped an altered Academy Ruins. It looked familiar. You know why? I altered that card quite some time ago and I wondered what happened to the card. (because the person I sold it to was selling his whole collection and this card was not on the list). So here's a photo of it. It was nice to see it again and I'm glad that the new owner likes it.

Farseek Textless

I tried my best to create a textless Farseek. It's quite ok. Maybe after ten more it will actually look good^_~

Hellkite Tyrant and Consuming Aberration

Argh I spent three nights on this card and I don't like it...cool. I'll get back to it to clean the stains..but um...I should have tore that card in half and never come back to it.

Angelic Skirmisher Alter

Beautiful illustration by David Rapoza. I really like the colors as well. Extended borders by me^_~. A tournament prize.

Garruk Relentless Checklist Alter

Another commission. Not sure what the commissioner will think about this though...I really went freestyle doing this and did not really care much about the overall quality of the alter. I just wanted to know how something like this can end up.

I used Spoon02's Garruk as reference.

Restoration Angel

There's about one Restoration Angel alter what I like and find good so I was wondering how mine would end up. Yeah, I'm not that precise and not that good at doing nice lines. Erm...Changing my mind on BSA. This one ended up much worse.

EDIT: I brought them to the commissioner and he liked them a lot. They found their place in his Naya midrange deck.

Boros Charm Alter

Personally I have no idea how Boros painted this. The angle is too alien for me. So I tried my best making it look not bad. Here is it...I have another Boros Charm primed and I'd like to try something completely different. Let's see how it ends up. So for the time being there's extended borders Boros Charm.

Baneslayer Angel Alter

I always wanted to alter BSA but at that time the card cost 70 USD and that was a bit too much for me. The BSA illustration is beautiful and I always wondered were Greg Staples comes with the ideas. I couldn't do the card justice, I should try later once again (but that would also mean getting the card, it's out of stock o_O)^_^. At least I managed to figure out the greenish/reddish color on her...I also used a toothpick to get nice round dots this time and it worked wonders!! ^_^ Why this idea did not come to my mind earlier?
